Hydro Electric were doing some work in my street and I asked one of the workmen if they had any spare doors as mine was cracked.

He said he would have a look in his van when he had finished digging his hole.

An hour later I heard a noise outside at my meter box.

I looked outside and he had fitted another door. It wasn't new but it wasn't cracked.

...not sure about that ..after all the Power distributor made the decision originally to mount the meter on an outside wall - shouldn't they be responsible for protecting their meter from the elements??:)

Unless you has some sort of evidence/correspondence, say from when the meter was originally installed where you or the original house owner asked for the meter to be located inside, but the electricity company insisted it was outside, I'd say its part of the house & up to you to fix.

not sure about that, it would be the builders/architects who decided the design and decided that an outside box would be a good idea.

I think this comment is insulting and not necessary.
