Tempting Roddy ,do you have more details. Vague is good, if it results in compensation.

Without seeing the full offer how can anybody be expected to comment ?

If they were offering to put your account £250 in credit from day one and it was a competitive tariff then that would be an offer.

It's presumably vague as suppliers are not permitted (by Ofgem) nowadays to offer cashback direct as a way to attract new customers.

(Cashback via switching sites, which is paid by the switching site, is still permitted)

Or it could just be their bog standard advert which would give £250 savings to anyone on a standard/poor tariff ?

*The £250 saving is calculated using the Ofgem average consumption figures of Electric 3200kwh and Gas 13500kwh per annum, against the standard dual fuel tariffs of British Gas and the other Big 6 suppliers.

I am on an earlier version of that tariff and it was about £250 cheaper than what I was on with E.on, however they are not offering you £250.
over 73 but not over the hill.
