Neither ............DIY kitchens online. I recently did a kitchen for my parents , Howdens quote was £5k (foil wrapped chipboard door) , DIY was £4k far better kitchen and all doors (solid Oak) ,drawers, wire pull-outs and pan drawers pre fitted and Durapol worktops.

Burford will more than likely be a foil wrapped chipboard/MDF door.

Iv'e had an account with Howdens for over 15 years and they won't get any more of my business.

The carcass quality is the same. The Oxford door is not as good as the Burford. It is a lighter door but the Oxford will certainly be cheaper.

You could try and get Howdens to reduce to compete but they won't price match to the Oxford because the door is a little different.

  • the customer service really hasn't been great from benchmarx and I'm worried ! The apparently like for like quote went from them beating Howdens by £450 and then ended up being almost £1000 more by moving the cooker and having an intergtrated washer / drier , two extra doors and a cupboard !!

You mean it cost extra to make your kitchen work?

Go with howdens then, let them throw it in and cover your radiator with a larder cupboard.

I've been looking at buying a kitchen from DIY Kitchens and was considering their Durapol worktops. If we go for a light colour, will it stain like cheap white composite sinks do with tomato juice etc?

In a word no , it won't stain anything like a cheap composite sink. Even tea bags can stain them. Good quality laminates will put up with a lot more but will still stain with things like curry sauce etc but the stain will come off .

Some composites like some of the wilsonart earth stones will also stain and scratch but you can re-finish them ie sand/router out scratches and light damage.

Thanks for that. Also, if we go for a black Duropol worktop, will it be affected by limescale? I had a black quartz worktop which used to get a lot of limescale marks around the sink.
