Laptop typing xsw2\ can't login to windows

Hi,
Im having major problems with my samsung laptop.
the keyboard totally froze so i did a shutdown and restart, resulting in not being able to log back in as the password box is filled up faster than i can delete with the letters xsw2\ over and over.

Ive tried removing the battery for a while, turning it upside down and gently tapping on the back but no luck.

Anyone have any ideas of anything else to try?
I feel llost without it!

  • on the login screen there is a blue icon on the lower left if I remember point mouse on that then press left click and select on screen keyboard , that may (or not) help

The keyboard is contaminated with crap of some description

    Thanks for the reply!

I tried that, but as the password box is autofilling so fast, I can't get the password in. Also managed to borrow a usb keyboard but same issue.

I've managed to get into system recovery using the f8 key on the usb keyboard, but again that requires my password and the same thing is happening.

Do you know if there is anyway to disable the laptop keyboard without logging in so I can use the usb one?

Should i attempt some kind of cleaning other than just tipping it upside down or would you recommend taking it to someone with a bit more experience? Cheers.

I will give it a go in the morning, and perhaps a hoover! Pretty sure ive got some compressed air somewhere, for now im going to spend the evening looking at new laptops..... Every cloud and all that! Luckily i backed up all my photos on an external drive a couple of weeks ago, so its not all bad.

You can get a can of compressed air from Poundland (for a £1)

Could you maybe physically open the laptop and remove or unplug the keyboard?. You could then try to login using an external keyboard, whether wired or wireless.

It could work if the problem is a mechanical one of jammed keys rather than a software malfunction. I see that most of the keys you mention are in an approximate line down the keyboard.

If it does prove to be the keyboard it would be much cheaper to buy a new keyboard rather than a new laptop.

You cannot loose a lose goose.
Get it? Now use it before you lose it.
    or - Try
using it - not losing it. ;)

Lift the keyboard and disconnect the ribbon
