Charged a default fee for interest charges!

I recently moved house, and to do so, I had to borrow off my credit cards until my sale completed. I made sure I stayed in my limit, and one of them was 40p under my credit limit! (last transaction 26th Sept) When the direct debit came out, I was a bit surpised at the amount taken, so I checked online. It turns out, they charged £55 interest on the 8th October, which took me over my credit limit, then added a default sum of £12, and then took the direct debit out on the 20th. I then lost my 0% rate! I have spoken to them today, and after HAGGLING from putting it back down 4.9%, I got it back to 0%, but they wont refund the interest charged this month. Are they right, or am I?

So if your interest rate was 0% and you were within your limit, why did they charge you interest?

you have to factor in intrest in o your limit
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.
  • I had a 0% interest rate for transfers to a credit account. When desperate, I withdrew cash, within my credit limit, and charge. I made sure of that when I checked my balance 5 days later.

They're right. You were lucky to get so much goodwill out of them.

    Well there's your major mistake.
