Tesco bank 2nd account

I only have 1 Tesco bank current account and 1 savings account

I just tried to apply for a 2nd current account. It says that the criteria include not having "more than one Tesco current account".

To continue you are required to log in. After logging in, it says I'm not eligible for a current account as I "already have 2 Tesco accounts" (doesn't specify current)

Anyone else come across this problem?

I had something similar when I wanted to open my second Tesco Current Account. I phoned Customer Services and the guy said that he could see the start of a second online application which I had made. Somehow it had confused their system. He was able to complete this over the phone.

Call them up and see if there's something like this blocking you.

Tesco also treat a Clubcard Plus account as 1 account - have you got one of those by any chance?

  • Today I received a call from Tesco and now have my second Tesco current account. I can't find anything in the terms and conditions that place restrictions on how to fund the account (i.e. can it be an internal transfer or not between the two accounts).

Maybe it is somewhere here on the MSE forums, but I can't see that either.

    Thanks.

Yes it's ok to transfer between accounts.

I have 2 current accounts (3% on £3k jobbies), an Internet Saver and an Instant access, ie 4 in all. Assume the Instant access is a current account, therefore 3 current accounts in all.
(Internet banking only works when I use Firefox, IE is no use - wonder why ?)

I've read your other posts. You really can't grasp this Tesco set up can you!?

The clue is in the full name of the account, namely...

    "Instant Access Savings Account"

Hopefully that clears things up (once and for all). ;)
