Hi, basically I had a staff mortgage and I resigned 2 years ago after my maternity leave. I was asked to go into the branch to switch my accounts which I did and I went to see the branch mortgage advisor about switching our mortgage. She checked our account and said there was nothing showing on there yet, that it can take months and months for them to switch it and that we would be contacted when the rate reverted. We never were. 2 years on we have been into the branch and spoke to the senior branch mortgage advisor about switching it as nobody has ever contacted us. She said that it's
their mistake not ours. We are looking to switch to capital
And repayment off an interest only and will be having a phone interview with her on Monday. We always assumed that we would need to pay an additional amount due to them
not switching us so I was more than surprised she said it was their mistake. I don't know what to do!?! Do I take her word for it or should I be raising this higher?

What do you want to achieve?
You have had an Interest Only mortgage for the last 2 years at a STAFF rate? But you have paid nothing off the mortgage and you and the Other Half are now 2 years older!
There are some very very good long term fixed rate deals on the market with 5 year fixes under 3% IF you have a LTV of 75% or lower.
Why are you just going to your OLD bank?
Do you only shop at Tesco? Never ALDI, M&S, Waitrose etc
You have a young child at home and bills to cover for the next 20/25 years to pay off the mortgage debts.
It would be a good idea to protect the family from rate rises for a few years.
I would be shopping round for the best deals from All the Lenders.
No idea about your income, age, debts, credit score, job etc But would it hurt to speak to a whole of market mortgage broker ?0 -
Thank you for your reply. I went back to the branch as I assumed we need to discuss our existing arrangement initially.0
