my sisters partner got payed on the 15th of this month. (once every moth) and halifax has taken all of his pay in charges he cant get any money out, and that money was for the mortgage that comes out on the 1st aug.
i have been helping him claim them back, we are just waiting of the statments from them.
Is there anythink he can do?
and how long does it take halifax to send the statments?

Been in a similar position 2 years ago - if he's not had charges refunded to the account before he could go into his branch and appeal to their better nature - we did have charges refunded once or twice this way but very much depends on the person you see. We have gone on to claim back charges from the Halifax but it did take a couple of months. They were useless in sending statements so you will need to keep pushing and use the letters and timescales Martin suggests. Don't take no for an answer - they made us an offer after we threatened court action in writing to them which was about half of the amount we were after. When we told them forget the offer and court proceedings would continue they said they'd go to £4,500 but couldn't go higher (LIE!!). We then negotiated and settled at £4,750. We made some serious financial changes and hard as it has been we have not been in that position again. GOOD LUCK to him!0

I had a problem with Halifax last month. They didn't let my account make a payment of £25 which would have put my account in OD but they happily slapped on 4 penalties with over £100 of charges over the period of a month. I called them up and they refunded it immediately.
Was actually surprised how easy it was. I'm not sure how much in charges you're talking about but if its a small amount, it might be worth you calling them first.0 -

Without sounding contradictory, it might be beneficial to ring Halifax/go to branch, and ask for some help here. they might provide an initial overdraft/ask family friends to cover the payments, but would suggest not telling them about claiming charges back. OPEN A NEW ACCOUNT SOMEWHERE ELSE, explain to mortgage company about switching banks because of problems, then pay in money from family/friends, get the mortgage paid, or ask for 1month holiday if possible.
As long as your HONEST (sometimes it pays to polish the apple slightly) you might get somewhere.:T Casa de ora :T
