Buyer wants to return for refund?

I sold a bag from a high street store recently by auction, auction ended Saturday night, posted the item second class as stated on the auction. I received a message late this afternoon asking where the bag was as the estimated delivery had past so I said I had posted on Monday & should be with you very shortly.
Now I have just received a return request, the buyer says the bag isn't from the high street store I stated and it isn't real suede as stated in the auction. This is not true as there is a label inside with the store name on and the auction description clearly states faux suede. Obviously I will have to accept this return but how is this fair? Is the buyer trying to have me on here?

TIA

I've just had a similar request from Ebay (see my post - "You have a return request" from Ebay).

I think these "You have a return request" from Ebay are a recent addition. In all my years with Ebay I've never had one before and the whole process looks completely flawed, not thought out and totally biased against any honest sellers.

This now means that a buyer can buy anything they want on Ebay knowing that they can just think up a simple excuse to force sellers to either give them the item for free or get a full refund of all costs when they send back.
This means we can now all go on an Ebay buying frenzy cause we've got nothing to lose. Only sellers will be the losers.
I've been buying and selling on Ebay for many years, I'm seriously thinking of not using them anymore - I hope I don't suffer too badly from withdrawal symptoms.

Things haven't changed at all apart from the wording. his is basically the old DNAD claim that gave buyers a defect, now they call it a request and sellers can avoid a defect.

  • Well I think we have established that eBay is just unfair none stop unless you're a buyer after a freebie - lovely.

All I can do is accept the return but I'm skeptical I'll receive it back - if they don't send it tracked, is a refund still issued even if I don't receive the bag back?

Nope they don't get a refund until you get it back.

You'd think so wouldn't you-however judging from some of the questions I am asked where people do not understand what I mean when I say things like 'vintage and dates from the 1920's' (question- what is the 1920's?) or wooden box lined with a blue velvet fabric (question- what does lined mean- can you see the velvet when the box is closed?)
