LED replacement for Halogen?
Can someone help me find a suitable LED replacement for a halogen bulb please? Its proving rather tricky.
This is the bulb I have at the moment, it quite bright, maybe "75W" (1000 lumens approx) brightness. The fitting says "150W max", but the bulb doesnt have a wattage printed on it anywhere. Its an "R7" (or "R7S"?) 78mm halogen bulb from the looks of it. Not sure the different between R7 and R7S.

I do see LED R7 bulbs out there but their sizes are stated as slightly different from my halogen ("8cm" vs "78mm"??).

Would these bulbs fit? I've been looking on eBay and elsewhere.
Thanks in advance for any recommendations!

The light fittings are spring loaded, so whether the lamp is 80 mm or 78 mm won't matter.
The big problem is the fact that the LED module is so bulky in the middle. Halogen light fittings normally have a reflector in. You will probably find that the LED module can't go in because the reflector is in the way.
If this is for a mini-flood light, you may be better off replacing the whole light fitting for an LED flood light.0 -
Thanks for the info. That makes sense regarding the spring loaded fitting.
Its actually a ceiling lamp, a couple at my mums house rather than a flood light.
Regarding the bulkiness, I guess I could order one and see if it fits. Here is a photo of the bulb in situ anyway:I hear the cry of the silence around me.0
