What happens when you quit your degree course?

Hi all,

I started a 4yr degree course only 4 weeks ago but because of personal reasons I am having to leave. I'm not sure of the best way to go about it though. I have moved to London for this course and signed a 6 month contract for a house share and have also received my first payment of student loan/grant. I am going to start looking for work straight away but as it stands right now, I am jobless.

Does anyone know the best course of action here and what is likely to happen? I mean, what happens when I tell my school that I'm leaving? Do they tell UCAS and then UCAS demand the money back, meaning I then can't pay my rent? Also, will I have to repay the school fees for the 4yrs or just for the first year? I

I need to let my school know next week that I'm leaving, they will start to wonder why I haven't been going to classes.

Any help is much appreciated, thank you.

Speak to your university not to UCAS.

  • There is lots of help at the University. Silvercar is right, speak to your tutor and also your pastoral tutor. There may be a way around your personal circumstances. It is a big decision, don't rush into it. Hope it goes well for you.
