Building an office in the garden

Hi folks,


Just wondering if anyone has any experience of building themselves a garden office?


I'm toying with the idea but would need something that is suitable for year round use so I'm unsure as to whether one of the DIY shed/office flat pack things would do the job as they don't have any insulation and the wood is very thin.


Any comments/advice would be welcomed

We put a 2 storey brick extension on the back of our detached double garage (we live on a hill so dug down a bit to fit the second storey into the roof space but from the front of the garage it's not visible). It's accessed from the garden. Upstairs is an office and downstairs a gym, there's a shower room under the stairs. We can put beds out there for visitors too, so it's multi purpose. It's a bit of a sanctuary. Cost us about £45k to build.

Or you can insulate a cheaper one but bare in mind that the amount of room you will lose by doing so, I have a garden office but rarely use it now.


I just have a round wooden framed building and then insulation fitted to the walls but it still gets a bit nippy in the real cold weather so a good heater to is a must.
