How to persuade credit rating agencies I have no debt?

20 years ago I was travelling the world and bulit a debt with the Woolwich of £17, which I paid off (plus the penalty fees) maybe 15 years ago. This month I have applied for a loan at a High Street bank and this £17 debt is still on the record, and the bank(s) are refusing to offer me a loan. What advice can you give me, please?

Do you have any evidence?
Have you spoken to Barclays who bought the Woolwich back in 2000 and so may well have owned it at the time you paid it off?0 -
Was it Barclays you applied with? They are the same company as Woolwich so they can keep your information on file forever.
However other banks will only see what's on your credit file. Get a copy of all three (experian, equifax, call credit) and if there are mistakes on it you need to get them corrected.Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0
