in Loans
Ill start my story by telling you where i was 18 months ago.
I was running a local computer repair business after being forced to go self employed by our draconian government still in power at the moment.
That business failed because i live in a small area and demand for computer repairs was not there.
Now 12 months later i find my self on E.S.A where i now have 3 children and cannot supply for my partner or children.
I applied for budgeting loan to see us through as washing machine flodded my kitchen taking all my kitchen appliances with it. We literally cannot cook or wash clothes let alone store food.
Applied for loans and got turned down by all now i have no option but to go to a loan shark. Dont wanna do it but got a duty to provide for my family. Its gonna cost about £1500 to kit my kitchen out again. No one wants to help. Government have made their position clear.
I need help. Have really bad credit. No one will lend but have my D.L.A which is guarantee for the rest of my life upto £172 a month.
Can someone suggest something.

Have a look for a local charity/community group that provide second hand appliances for cheap. Sometimes they offer discounts for people in real need.
Also have a look on local freecycle pages, sometimes people throw away working appliances and you can get them for free
A credit union is a good option.
A loan shark is a very bad optionChanging the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0 -
Ask friends or family, try gumtree/freegle/freecycle.
Loan shark should never be an option, how would you pay the loan back?Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
Have you tried Swap-it-sell-it or your local Freecycle to pick up very cheap (or free) appliances?
It sounds like borrowing more money is not going to be an option so you need to look at alternatives."We act as though comfort and luxury are the chief requirements of life, when all that we need to make us happy is something to be enthusiastic about” – Albert Einstein0 -
asked family and friends. Dont have enough savings. Credit union said no.0

Have you tried gumtree/freegle/freecycle or facebook for your area?
People are very generous when it comes to the needs of a family.Thinking critically since 1996....0 -

No. You have a duty to hang on to your kneecaps.
Your family does not need a teatime visit from Knuckles McPunchy.0 -
we are renovating a house. I installed a temporary kitchen to see us through till we get round to the kitchen replacement for £0 from freecycle. We got everything, including fridge, dishwasher etc for free.
dont get a loan, get busy with your tools.
dont you have house insurance?GC Jan £431.490/£480.00  £48.51 under budget!0 -
Were you not insured? I hope you have life cover, otherwise your family will be in the do do if you fall foul of the high demand for cremation space.
You can pick up white goods for free or nearly free through the sites mentioned or save up for a couple of months and buy them. Going to a loan shark for a washing machine will be the biggest mistake you make for you and your family. If the residents of Walford can use a launderette for 25 years, you too can. There is also handwashing. Washing dishes etc. You have the free time now.
Finally, I don't see how the draconian government forced you to go self employed, perhaps its the same draconian goverment that is paying you every month to survive. If you had the relevant skills and employment prospects, you would likley have remained employed, you cant blame the government. Also, when setting up a business, assess whether there is demand. Computers these days tend to get relegated to the bin when they stop working as they are cheap enough to replace these days, hence why TV repairmen have disappeared. Therefore you may need to adapt your career to move with the times i'm afraid.0
