Issues in a care home....

I was after abit of help and advice if possible with the following story.....

My other half works in a care home herself NOT THIS VERY ONE!
but they had the same issue happen at their place the weekend which hasn't made it into the news yet....
There's 3 carer's in the mix at my mrs's work... So far they have been handed a written warning after submitting statements which describing the version of events which the manager's dont believe and they've been asked to resubmit their statements and have been threatened with the sack depending the outcome
Can they do this ?? Its so complicated and im not really experienced with disputes at work
Any advice will be really appreciated

They need to get in touch with the CQC and explain the issues there, also if they are in a union contact them. Failing that, they should try to get the manager to trip themselves by writing, texting or emailing them so they have some sort of come back and proof if they do get sacked.0

The CQC are aware and are investigating the matter their selves as well as the police.
the only difference was - My other half and her 2 colleagues were attending another issue that had arisen just before where an elderly woman had fallen out of bed and was in a bad way.. 2 were busy dealing with her whilst the 3rd - the senior was dealing with the ambulance crew that had just arrived.
While they were doing that they heard a scream from another room which was the old man beating the other woman with the stick.. They were there straight away and had to get help from the ambulance crew to restrain him.0 -
GET ON THE PHONE and report your concerns to the local Adult Social Services.
They have to respond.

I would be contacting anyone and everyone if I worked or had a relative in this home .

Most areas do have a safeguarding adults board and a process to report incidents, however if CQC have been informed, I would expect that safeguarding procedures have been too because the CQC process would expect that.
It sounds like the care home are following the procedures - so my question would why have the staff been given a warning? What was in it? What are they being asked to change in their statements?"Normal is not something to aspire to - it is something to get away from" - Jodie Foster0 -

I don't care about funding .. these are vunerable adults who have no one to make sure they are safe except the people employed by the home they find themselves in.
The issue of understaffing , poor pay, training, comes a poor SECOND to the welfare of the residents0 -
I agree entirely with everyone about the standards and reporting procedures in care homes. And there are far too many bad ones. BUT getting back to the issue asked about - what were the written warnings for, and what exactly has been said and done? Because the issue is about the employees, not about care standards. It isn't that I don't care about care standards - but employees are often as much to blame about them as anyone else. So to give any worthwhile advice we need to clear out the emotionalism about vulnerable people and get to the facts of the employment position. Sorry. But the people employed to safeguard vulnerable people are most often the abusers. Which isn't about letting anyone off the hook or making a judgement without facts. It's about asking what is actually happening.
Or doesn't anyone recall "Brett"?0
