Air source heat pump

After thinking about a wood-burning stove in an outbuilding which has been converted, I was recommended an air source heat pump as an efficient/cheaper way of heating.

Has anyone got experience of these? Cost effectiveness? Installation? etc

I was forwarded a link to a good brand, £400 (which is in my price range) however when I look on which it says they're thousands... I'm a little confused.

You won't get an air source heat pump for £400 !!!

I'm just looking for a cheap(ish) source of heating for an outbuilding. I initially thought wood burner, but was slated for thinking that was relatively cheap. So I'm at a loose end with it really and winter is FAST approaching (or here).

Ahh, apologies, I was assuming a whole house solution.... Must pay more attention.

Personally I'd install a couple of panel heaters, less to go wrong :)

I had big problems with Orionair about 5 years ago. I purchased an air conditioning unit. After I received it I realised it was completely different to what was advertised on their website. Orionair refused to do anything about it so I ended up after about 5 months getting a full refund from my credit card company. Orionair then decided to collect the unit from me. I would stay clear of them.

    How big is the outbuilding?,
    is it insulated?
what are you going to do in it?
does it have an eletricity supply? (more than an extension cable) where would get wood from to feed a stove?
do you want it to be cooled (air con) in the summer?

An air to Air heat pump is a very good idea, I have had one before and it worked very well indeed.
The easy fit ones still need an air conditioning engineer to install it, as the pipes need to be vacuum pumped & leak testes to do it properly, you can however get different models that have sealed, pre charged hoses that you can for yourself.

Proper brand makes are available, fully fitted for around £1000.
You need to do the bums weather its worth it, or if your not in there much then just install a 2kw convertor heater for £20
