How long should I wait for a refund

Hi,

I bought a low value item from Ebay, item hasn't turned up but I had a 'we can't deliver because sender didn't pay full postage' card through the door with a charge of £3.18! As i am not expecting anything else i figured it was the ebay item.
I contacted the seller who replied saying yes it will be them because another buyer has the same problem. They said they hadn't paid enough postage. They offered to pay the £1 handling charge but that leaves me still having to pay the other£2.18.
If i choose not to pay the excess she will refund me once she gets the item back, but, she said she hasn't put a return address so asked if i would send details of my delivery office.
The thing is i how long do i wait for her to receive it back?

Open a INR case on eBay. Don't muddy the waters, open the case, ask when the item will be delivered and then wait until day 8 to escalate, without tracking the seller will have to refund the full amount. They need to learn the very basics of selling, the hard way.

Those charges would suggest that they put a 1st class stamp (62p) on a small parcel, that is one serious postage miscalculation!

I agree with theonlywayisup,as they don't seem to want to give you the full cost of the postage, INR and let eBay sort it out.

I got caught out when a small change in a low value stock item meant that the envelope I sent them in was 6mm deep instead of the 5mm previously. As soon as I was made aware of it I refunded all the extra postage & fee, leaving me slightly out of pocket. I wouldn't have dreamt of only offering a partial refund of the extra postage.

Come on people, it's not difficult: lose means to be unable to find, loose means not being fixed in place. So if you have a hole in your pocket you might lose your loose change.

    That sounds about right.

Thing is this seller currently has 4 more auctions running with the same type of items and is still listing postage as 99p, so other buyers will have the same issues no doubt :(

Thanks for the advice people :)

I agree - odd that the seller hasn't put on a return address. My conclusion is they are probably a business seller pretending to be private and trying to keep their details secret.

Ridiculous attempting to send a parcel with just a letter stamp and then not agreeing to pay you the correct postage ! The cost of the postage would Im sure have reflected in your bid value in the first place. Some things are just not worth the cost of the postage ! All they had to do was pay the excess and put it down to experience. Now with an INR - the seller will get a defect on the account. So silly!

Just open an item not received request via the resolution centre and let the seller sort it out.
