I'm currently in the same boat with Jedi Loans taking £63.95 out of my account - although I haven't been searching for a loan
I have emailed them several times explaining I am on a DMP, have not visited their website or any other such websites and require a full refund immediately.
I keep getting an email to say they require phone confirmation to discuss a possible refund. They called me while I was at work and said if they do give me a refund it would only be £31 within 30 days. Each time I try to contact them it rings and rings then says all their advisors are busy and the line goes dead.
I have spoken to my bank and cancelled my card to stop such things happening again.0 -
If you check their T&Cs, it will almost certainly say that you must request the refund in writing. Not email, old fashioned pen and paper.0

If they've set up a CPA that won't work. Check with your bank.

If that's true, it's a fraudulent transaction and should be treated as such.
Inform bank and receive an immediate refund.
IIRC I've had three similar incidents: two T-Mobile top-ups and a travel company I'd previously used helped themselves to some extra money.
These incidents were quickly sorted out and I received full refunds.0 -
Hi
So I'll explain the situation as it is for me at the moment mainly as a bit of a warning for anyone who might make the same mistake as me and also for any advice anyone can give.
Last week was a bit dire for me and I decided to look for a short term loan (I know I'm stupid and in the end I didn't take one anyway). At one point I ended up on a site called Jedi Loans after entering all my details it flashed up with a notice that they charge a one off fee of £69.95 but it was heavily implied that this would only be charged if you got the loan. Which I didnt. Also after some thought I clicked the cancel button as £69.95 seemed a lot to be paying on top of a loan. Anyway on Saturday I was shocked to see that after receiving my wages over £200 had been debited from my account to 'loan brokers' these were to Jedi Loan and also to two brokers whose sites I had not visited called 'loans direct' and 'loans rocket'. I immediately contacted my bank who have refused to do anything as they are advising it is my own fault for not reading terms and conditions.
All 3 of the companies websites advise you can cancel within 14 days to receive a refund. However I have been unable to contact any by phone and this is how the situation currently stands:
Emailed Jedi loans who advised they need a phone call for confirmation. Advised them of best times to contact me and conveniently they are not available at any of these times.
Loans direct - cannot get through on their telephone number, cannot reach them by email it bounces back and their online form comes up with an error
Loans rocket - emailed 3 times and received no response
Today I have got in touch with the financial ombudsman who are writing to them to try and give them a push to give me the money back as soon as possible. I am really at my wits end with this.
Finally I dealt with a company called cash finance direct on an 09 number I was not aware that this would cost me at first but this is what has happened with them.
I spoke to someone who advised they were a broker and gave me the 09 number to call where they said I would speak to the lender direct agree to the terms and conditions and a loan would immediately be processed. This was not the case when I rang the 09 number I just got through to another branch of CFD who then advised I would be charged £1.50 a minute but the loan was guaranteed and I would also get the fees for the phone call refunded. Reluctantly and in desperation financially I agreed, after a long conversation I was told to ring another 09 number to 'finalise' the application. After this phone call I was given an 0800 number to call to get my refund. After all that the company never gave me a loan and all I have had since is phone call after phone call and text message spamming me with loan requests. Has anyone had any experience with these and did you get your refund back if so? There are £50 worth of charges on my phone bill for this and I want to have my facts at the ready before I call their 0800 number tomorrow!
Thanks in advance

I had never even went onto their site or even applied for any such loan but on January the 2nd they took money from my account I rang the bank and reported this as fraud as prior to this happening every week/month different loan company where taking money not the odd couple of pounds like 60-80 pound a time I work hard for the money I earn and don't see why I should pay a fee for something I did not applied for after speaking to the fraud team they agreed to refund me the money jedi took from my account to then cancel that bank card a couple of weeks later three days before I got paid I checked my bank account to find it was 62.99 over drawn I was furious as the bank informed me that they would contacted jedi for this money back speaking to the bank they told me that basically it was my own fault the loans were taking money as I give bank details out (which wasn't the case my ex partner stole them while I was out the country) I explained this and they told me no charges would be brought to my account for being over draw I was angry as after I paid this money back to the bank to get my account out of over draft jedi took another 64.00 I contacted them spoke to a gentle man called Samuel who said it would take 30 working days to process my refund (this being Feb 2nd) I would receive this on 21st March Saturday gone I then contacted jedi again as it wasn't in my account who then told me they processed the payment on 19th but was an "error" they would do it again it would take 1-5 working days today being day 5 I've rang up 2-3 times trying to get through to the manager is horrendous o eventually spoke to him Ben who basically told me his staff were liars that I should of been informed the money wouldn't go into my bank on the 21st as it's not a working day and also that it took up to 5 working days Samuel failed to mention this over the phone In Feb I then told him several member of his staff this week told me how it had been process on the 19th with a error he then said that was not the case he told me I was due a refund of 62 pound wonder what excuse they have this time..... As it's not in my account0 -
Any chance of some punctuation and maybe a paragraph break? My eyes can't cope with a wall of text. At least not until I've had a drink or two.0

If your partner stole your details, Report it to the police and get a crime number.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

Dont you think I have reported this to the police I'm not totally stupid you know.... But as I can't physically prove it was him then they can't really do anything so thanks for your input
Is this ok for paragraph break, as for spelling isn't my fault if my phone automatically tries to guess what I'm saying and changes it0 -
Have you written them a formal complain in writing and delivered by post, Not a phone, text or email?
A formal complaint with the crime number?
Are they taking money for a loan that they paid out? Whose account was that paid into?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
