Currently got plusnet Thomson 585v8 router and would like to extend range to bedroom so purchased netgear ex2700 thinking it would do the job.
Been trying to connect it up all day in end phoned PlusNet who will be sending me out a new router possibly Technicolor 582n as my router appears to have a few problems, wifi function stops completely or become open unsecure but still won't work with the netgear wifi extender. Have reset router so have secure wifi but it won't connect to extender.
1.Is my router and wifi extender not compactible?
2.Pressing wifi button on router and wps button on extender not linking.
3.tried searching online for solution where I can see netgear ext on my tab2 input my ssid and wireless key then click connect but nothing happens.
Should I return the netgear wifi extender and purchase something else that might work or wait and try on new router that should come by end of next week?

This looks promising. Install it in the bedroom; it picks up the weak WiFi, amplifies and retransmits it.

Thanks Gyro, I did read the reviews and tried the solutions but still didn't work so will try again when new router comes. If it doesn't work then will return and get a wireless powerline adaptor kit.
Moneymaker, the BearExtender does look interesting and what I want to happen. The netgear at £20 looked to be a cheaper option.0 -
Just a thought - I've read that the trick to linking powerline units successfully is to start off with both of them as close together as possible when you set up the linkage. After they're linked you can move them to wherever you want the final position to be.
Would it help if you tried that with the wireless extender and the router? You can lose a loose goose.
