Lol, if you think a moustache is bad for prostate cancer, I'd love to know what you think of "fanuary" for ovarian cancer (*ahem* yes! that's lady garden topiary for the uninitiated!)

    No. Just... No.

Dear God, I hope they don't post pictures of it growing back!

Well I don't have enough space in my house to store a months food not the money to pay for it all at once so it does not make sense to me either. Nor do I understand no spend days I have 6 of them every week between my weekly shops.

I have to admit that outside of food and my annual house insurance I have found little to save on this site because what we are shown in the news letters are outside of my expenditure.
  • Well Stoptober made me stop and check my stores, use up stuff that was close to going out of date and use some of the money saved to buy more up to date stores, so works for me. As to the blogger you are referring to, I imagine she saves on some parts of her life to be able to spend on others. Being frugal does not mean we cannot enjoy some of the finer things in life surely!

I have to confess I haven't looked at anything to do with Stoptober, as I thought it was *just* about stopping smoking; and as I haven't smoked since May 2002, it didn't seem relevant to me.:o

There's no way I could not shop for an entire month; we use the food we buy; I keep a small stock in for if I'm too poorly to shop, and we rotate our stock so that nothing sits there for years waiting to be used. *shrugs* Still, if it's of use to some, that's great.:o

Mr LW's pal took part in Movember a couple of years back - he looked awful, it put a good 10 years on him!:D As for Fanuary (which I hadn't heard of before reading this thread).... um.... I think I'll pass on that one, thanks.

"stoptober" is an international, funded campaign to try to help people give up smoking - there is no other part to it. Anyone who is using that strapline (jumping on a bandwagon of free publicity?)for other purposes wants to think very seriously about what they are trying to achieve, what they may be getting in the way of and how morally comfortable they are with that. There's an mse aspect to stoptober simply because smoking is so expensive.
    :AA/give up smoking (done) :)
  • No worries if you're fed up with the charades of stop obber, there is another excuse next month for growing a lip snake
