Letter to reclaim PPI

Hi all, I have written this letter to try and reclaim PPI, can anybody tell me if I need to add or remove anything, thanks for any help.
Dear Sir or Madam,
Re: Credit card 1234 1234 1234 1234
I am writing in relation to a payment protection (PPI) policy with ***** associated with the above account, which I do not believe was sold to me correctly or fairly.
I believe you have not treated me fairly for the following reasons:
I was told that I had to protect the repayments on the credit card with PPI cover from your company.
Unless you can provide proof that the policy was sold to me fairly when you sold me the insurance, I will expect a full refund of all premiums as well as the interest that I have incurred as a result of having the PPI cover.
I look forward to your prompt response to this letter.
If I have not had a satisfactory response from you within eight weeks of this letter I will contact the Financial Ombudsman Service to formally investigate my complaint.
I would also request that you cancel this insurance with immediate effect.
Yours faithfully,

How was the PPI sold to you, in branch, over the phone, over the internet.
You have no proof that you were told that you had to have this PPI. presumably you don't have this is writing.
If you want to cancel it, put that cancel line at the top of your points list.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

That is a very weak complaint. Do you have anything better than that as a complaint reason as its unlikely to succeed on that particular point (it may go on to succeed on another point).Unless you can provide proof that the policy was sold to me fairly when you sold me the insurance, I will expect a full refund of all premiums as well as the interest that I have incurred as a result of having the PPI cover.
That is not the criteria that has to be met. So, you may expect it but they dont have to comply with your request.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Thanks for the reply dunstonh & McKneff, now the honesty kicks in, I haven't got a clue, I have had this card for probably 20 years and can't remember how I got it so yes I'm probably one of those jumping on the bandwagon but thought I would have a go at reclaiming but with what you have said it's probably not worth a stamp, thanks again anyway.0

I would suggest you still give it a go but change the "unless you can provide proof" line as that is quite aggressive in tone and not technically correct.
You can still go with a weak complaint. Many do only state that and still get lucky because of other failings that the complainant didnt even mention. However, without other reasons of a more substantial basis, you are largely relying on luck (missing paperwork, poor audit trails etc)I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Eeh, wingcommander, you are a first, and because of your honesty, I hope you get every single penny back.
Could I suggest you make your letter a little less 'pompous' sorry, I don't mean to offend, but that's the way it sounds.
Good luck with it and let us know

Thanks for the reply, is it honestly worth pursuing this as it was so long ago and I have no proof it was ever mis-sold or should I just take it on the chin, if it is worth doing any help with a letter would be very much appreciated to get some of the 15K+ back as I’m not very good with letters, thanks again.0
