Best way to claim after an accident

Hi,
A large printer fell on my leg as I was moving it for work.
No broken bones but I did get a nasty gash + swelling. It's 6 months laterand I've been left with a 2 inch scar (and a slight indent) on the front of myankle/shin. I did not miss any days off work.
What is the best way to process a claim against my work.
There are a myriad of different advertisements offering to claim for you.
Are they all roughly the same? Do some claim a percentage?
How best to proceed?
Not sure if this is the right forum but it seems the most appropriate.
Regards
V

Yes it was an accident,
But it was a large printer the company wanted moved. I suggested that it was a two man job but as resources were not available I was sent to do it myself. If two people attended it would not have happened.
Any useful answers please?0 -
What exactly are you claiming for? You didn't miss a huge amount of time off work and you otherwise haven''t lost out financially.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

I too am interested in what loss you have been caused? Perhaps you could ask your employer to buy you some Bio Oil to help your scar disappear more quickly?0

I was in a lot of pain for a few days.
I've been left with a permant ugly scar.
Most importantly I was presurised into doing work alone that required 2 people and was put in a dangerous situation by a skimpy company.
Is there a problem enquiring about injury claims here?0 -
The problem is, at least imo, it's a ridiculous claim. You've not been left with a serious health problem as a result, missed a lot of time off work, etc.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

I've never claimed for anything before. I've been with the same firm 15 years;they are always trying to cut resources to get things done cheaply.
They will continue to do so unless they realise there is a financial penaltyto putting employees in difficult situations like these.
I don't think claiming against negligence is "ridiculous" orshould I wait until I’m hospitalised before taking action.
Can anybody answer the original question without the moral judgement please?

Are you aware that you have posted on the disabilities board? Many of us have debilitating conditions that are likely to be lifelong. That might be why you wanting compo for a little mark on your leg is seen as ridiculous.0

I have to agree with everyone else one here. You had an accident at work, You didn't lose any time off work. Yes it caused you pain, which of course is normal and it left you with a scar, which again is normal. Get real will you. Wow some people will claim for anything these days!
Tomtontom is right, you've posted on a disability board. I have a disability and my condition is permanent. Most days i can't walk from my front door to my car and you're moaning about a tiny little scar on your leg. Take some advice. Get real and move on, S**t happens.
Have a nice day.0 -
Just contact the national accident helpline. Their ads are on the tv constantly. Many firms operate a no win no fee scheme, however, the government is trying to curb this as the process is being abused. You may well be entitled to take some form of legal action against your employer as it certainly seems to me that they contributed to your accident and resulting (albeit minor) injury through poor work practices. However, bear in mind that this may have ramifications for your continued employment with this firm and you should consider whether pursuing a claim for personal injury against your employer will be worth it all in the long term. The best people to ask really are the legal professionals who do this work on a daily basis. They will be able to help you. I wish you well but urge you to consider the consequences of taking any action in pursuit of what would be a relatively minor sum of money. Sometimes, learning from your experience and moving on really is the better option. Regards, Mac.0
