Wednesday 29 October - what small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym .
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money:

I'm out at work most of the day today, which means i shouldn't spend too much.
At lunchtime I did my Asda Online shop with my phone and meal planned first so I have only bought the essentials to get us through the week.
I've also joined free postcode lottery in the hope of winning a little something.
I also need to list on ebay and my local FB selling sites.Make £10 a day: £48.76/£1500 -
Wot, no thread?
Now I have started one, no doubt someone else will have had exactly the same idea at the same time :rotfl:
So far today I have:
Not spent anything because I have been waiting in for my fruit trees to be delivered :j
Bit of housework
Unpacked the trees, put them where they can't blow over and watered them
I will have to wait to plant them on a day when it isn't peeing down with rain though - we have a border to clear first
Dug up one pot of autumn potatoes as the leaves had died and gone all brown and yucky. Possibly blight, though the other pot seems ok. I got half a colander full of little potatoes - hmmm, probably not worth the effort - though they do look nice
Entertained DD and baby DGD. I normally look after baby while Mum is at work on Wednesdays, but as it is half term (Mum is a teacher) I sort of got the week off :rotfl:
Meals from stores and the garden - dinner will be lamb chops from the freezer, potatoes and carrots from the garden, some cabbage that needs using up in the fridge, gravy and mint jelly
Right, I must reclaim my spare bedroom and put my business stock away! Hope everyone is having a good day

Hi Twiggy
I did the old school way for one month worked out exactly how much was going in & how much is coming out. Then last month I used a free money tracking app. I found it so useful I am keeping going this month too. Just check on your phone for whatever free apps your operating system offers." Hi All
Thanks Dawn for starting the thread. I did pop on earlier but I can't start threads from my phone. Glad your daughter has extra time with her little one this week & that you have some spare time yourself.
snap Pink we also had home made soup but not home made bread just bog standard value wholemeal.
well done on walking your errand Ratison it all adds up & helps.
Glad your having a cheap day Morley
Today is the first day of half term that I've had my husband off. We have had another little boy here to play with my son today so all of us went out early in the rain and had a fun park play even though it really was very wet. The boys got soaked on the slide but neither of them cared. We bought them 2 pumpkins for £3 in sainsburys & my husband carved them. He's very arty & loves doing it.
I made the boys pasta with hot dog sausages & home made tomato pasta sauce for lunch.
I got a flyer through the door from a company that organises student tours that needs hosts. I rang and found out they offer £13.50 for half board or £15 full board for a short stay of 4 to 5 nights. So £75 a week. It's not something I'd be able to do all the time but as we do have a spare room & could shuffle our household around to offer a nice double room easily enough I'd give it a go. Have to wait now for someone to come and inspect us.
I made carrot & veg soup for lunch using up a lot of leftovers too. Does anyone else through pasta in to thick it? Once whizzed you can't even taste it.
Checked my banking & updated the spending app.
Made an apple cake with vanilla sea salt it.
Think that's all.
Enjoy the rest of your day.

Afternoon all,
What a dreary day it has been weather wise, it is nice to have memories of the glorious weather we had the last couple of days.
Been working out the budget for November, paid the council tax etc., and now know what I have left to put towards christmas presents.
Had my grocery shop delivered and we now have plenty of food in that should see us through until the 28th November. I will need to start weighing out foods though as I tend to cook far too much for the two of us.
Take care all.

Bobarella that cake sounds lush!
I use potato to thicken soups, never tried pasta but I might give it a go for my next batch.0
