PAYG meter stuck/faulty..?

Hi all,
We have recently bought and moved into a flat about 6 weeks ago that was previously let out to tenants.
They were on a payg leccy meter, and so we have informed the provider that we have since moved in.
They have sent us a new key to use and top up with until we choose to either stay or change to a tarriffed provider.
However, we are yet to top up the meter using our key as the previous tenant's one had some remaining credit left, however this has not gone down a penny since we moved in...
Our plan was to simply use up that credit and then resume the service with our key until we made a decision to stay or change..
Has anyone had this before and should we just wait until the credit finally drops or what?
Thanks for any advice given.

Can you see if the seal is still in place on the front of the meter. IF there is no seal, it may have been bypassed which would indicate why the current credit hasn't decreased.
If the seal is missing, contact your supplier and them the credit isn't reducing.0
