Traffic Master Cameras

AFAIK they use ANPR to identify vehicles entering and leaving each road segment, and thus calculating their average speeds.0

Do they only calculate average speeds then?
Is it the Traffic Master Company that monitor them or who?
I can see the calculate using ANPR but do they have a live picture?0 -
PTFM shouldnt capture live more a digitised image.0

Trafficmaster cameras, IIRC, read the whole plate but only use the middle four or five characters of it to work out when cars enter and leave a zone, comparing the time taken to traverse the zone with a rolling average to identify whether traffic is easing, building up or static.
They do not store the details of the plates they read, or calculate speeds for storage.
Some information from the HA here:

Which I think brings me back to what I originally thought they are only there to to calculate road speeds and conditions but not for enforcement etc?
Am I correct?0 -

They do not technically calculate average speed, they only count number of cars and the average time taken to traverse a zone. The two are not inherently linked, so although it is technically possible for the TM system to calculate a speed based on time/distance, it doesn't.
They are NOT used for enforcement.0 -
