Bridal shops - dresses under 1K

  • It's been a few years since I was shopping for a wedding dress but with your budget you should have loads of choice.

Some of the ones in Belfast that had a good selection of dresses in that price range would be Biento Madame, Jean Millar, Eden Bridal, Direct Dresses, Bride n Joy.

Also agree Naomi bridal was reasonable if you don't mind a journey. Perfect Day in Lurgan were also lovely and do good sample sales.

I ended up getting mine in Divinity Bridal in Lisburn. I found a dress I liked and then checked other shops that stocked that designer and Divinity bridal was selling it for £300 cheaper than what it was in the first shop and did the alterations for free so it checks to phone round and check prices too.

There also use to be a wedding dress shop in East Belfast that sold new (sample) dresses. They had a fab collection at reasonable prices. I cannot remember the name of it but maybe someone else will.

Good luck with your search and enjoy trying on all those beautiful gowns.

First Anniversary First Post Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
On the subject of wedding dresses I thought I would mention the usual accessories that go with them. Tiara's are still popular and there is a site called royal exibitions who sell duplicates of royal tiara's and crown's. They have a gorgeous copy of the spencer tiara:D I wish it would have been available when I had my wedding I couldn't find a copy anywhere, I had to buy a tiara from a Swarovski shop instead as I wanted a well made one with real sparkle. The exibitions site doesn't show the prices ( you have to enquire) im guessing there not budget and I would safely bet the sspencer copy would be around£400.

Couldn't disagree more. I'd be more inclined to agree with Wanchai - avoid them like the plague.

First Post First Anniversary Combo Breaker Hung up my suit!
My DD and I went wedding dress shopping recently she mentioned her budget and wasn't sneered at by anyone. We don't live in NI so no point in recommending anywhere we are in the North West and we have had great fun Bride and Bridesmaid shopping in several places all lovely staff/owners, no pushing to secure the deal, I was pleasantly surprised. I suppose my message is find a shop where you feel the owner cares about your wedding not just the money.

Try Belfast Bridal Wear on the Holywood Road... her dresses are gorgeous and would be within your budget. Very nice lady that runs it.
  • i have seen adverts for a sample/discount bridal store somewherein mallusk direction. from what i remember they aren't open all the time, just specific days.

one daughter got her dress from a shop in queen st belfast ( but they might be away by now) and the other daughter got hers made for her.

can i just say though that trying on dresses can be very stressful if you arn't a size 8/10. 1 daughter had a bad experience in blush lisburn road but i think that was down to the salesperson and the fact that the samples were all stinking and badly ripped etc.

very stressful time for all lol
  • Not sure if the OP has got sorted, but there is a girl in carrick runs a business from her home - Its all about me bridal boutique. Google them - north road carrick. She apparently bought a job lot of wedding dresses and is selling them cheap. a wide range of sizes and styles. also some bridesmaid/formal dresses
My sister is on the larger side and she got a fabulous dress there for £500. Originally cost £3000.

Buy some bridal magazines and read up on prices of specific designers you like, or google for general prices, some designers are cheaper than others.

Biento Madame in Belfast does some cheaper ones. Have a look at this link as well:

I've been to this shop and they have lovely dresses

Southern Area Hospice have a shop in Newry on Hill Strret beside Supervalu, it's called Encore Boutique & specialises in wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses & mother of the bride outfits only. Lots of the dresses are brand new & have been donated as they are end of line from other bridal shops. All wedding dresses are £65 & it's yours to keep. All the money goes to Southern Area Hospice also, so you would be helping a really worthwhile cause.
