Bridal shops - dresses under 1K

Hi there,

Hoping some of you lovely guys can help. I am currently wedding dress shopping, but have been wasting my time visiting shops and trying on dresses to be told at the end they are way over my budget. (no price tags / prices are ever upfront) my budget is under a thousand, but I'd be happy if its a lot less. Any shops recommendations out there? I live in Belfast

I watch the Say Yes To The Dress on TV:o

You need to tell them straight up the price you are willing to go to. That way they will not have you try on dresses over your budget.

A friend's daughter went to one on the lower Newtownards Road(not sure if they are still there???), and they were very reasonable.
  • Thanks!!, Yeah I am going to have to be more direct. Its a bit ridiculous, some places it like money is a dirty word, and I wont be told verbally a price, just given a slip of paper with details on way out.

This is the hire price ?

Don't really see the point in owning a dress if it is just for 1 day and will take up closet space for the rest of your life :o

My wife hired hers for our wedding 18 years ago for a few hundred quid at the time, she actually got a new, never worn dress too.

Some bridal shops will sell you a new dress with a buy back after the wedding that they then clan and hire out again.

Oh and good luck for the happy day
I am trying, honest;) very trying according to my dear OH:rotfl:

Makes sense buying a wedding dress rather than hiring one out 3-4 times.
  • Blythswood Charity shop in Ballyclare had some in the last time I was in there, might be worth maybe phoning around some of your local charity shops and see if they have anything.

Then hopefully you like one and get one for a decent price and the money goes to a charity so everyone wins

I'm thinking of selling my wedding dress, are there any second hand bridal shops around Belfast or should I try gumtree? Or where?

ally_bee47, where would you look if you were buying second hand? Congrats on your forthcoming wedding btw :D

Try Naomi Bridal - Ballyclare and Ballynahinch

I found they had more reasonable prices than most other bridal shops.

Depends on the brands they stock, Saint Patrick dresses will be £1500+, the less well known English brands will be cheaper

They are very expensive these days. Take a look at dress sites on the net. I would love a very pale pink version of kate middletons when I renew my vows.:o

OP - try gumtree or eBay, you can sort by distance so you only see the ones near you! Good luck.
