    Hmmm...
Maybe I will share with you what I have done.

Few months ago I had to buy new rear wiper blade and arm. Decided to buy it on Ebay (cheap version) and happily installed on my car.

It turned out to be really bad quality - blade started to come off and wasn't removing water properly from back window. Inspired by this post decided today to have closer look at it. And, guess what - I hadn't remove protective plastic cover from the blade. My rear wiper works lovely now:)

One of the front blades started to come apart on the Mondeo, and Lidl had wipers blades on special that week, so I bought them as a stop-gap until I could get some proper ones. Over a year later, they are still there, still working fine.

I'm going to replace them before winter, but I am pleasantly surprised how well they have lasted.

Why do car handbooks say things like 'wipers should be changed every 12 months' and then they are never part of the 12 month service? Just a thought.

because its recommended and not essential to the warranty side of things like having a engine serviced.
