0% purchase card for new home buyer

have last month applied for (and got) a mortgage to move house, and will be looking for a 0% purchase card to get the essentials.

in the last 3 months I cleared off and closed down completely 4 x credit cards with 0% BT offers (cleared them to have a cleaner financial trail for the mortgage application) and now want a card for purchases. I'd class myself as a good earner, what card would you recommend applying for in the next month or so?

Absolutely nothing until you have completed your move.

I think this is wise advice....but then wouldn't the 'change of address' affect credit report and chances of getting card? it can take a minimum of a month to as long as 3 to get your name on the electoral roll...

Agree. But preferable to losing the mortgage.

Yes some banks will continually review your credit until they have paid the money, ie completion
I have been in the same situation as you, a 0% card would be really useful for moving, but I wouldn't risk it
Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.
  • I was in same postion as you, I completed on house then went to my own bank and applied for 0% card which I got even though I'd just moved house.. Try your own bank first they have your up to date address ( change this first ) and your overall credit history with them.. Good luck with the move x
