Marriott Rewards Credit Card

Hello, had a look to see if anyone had posted about this card before but couldn't see anything. I was wondering does anyone have this card and had any experience with redeeming points or the card in general?

Can I also ask what the difference is between a standard MasterCard and a World MasterCard?

The points go straight into your Marriott account on a monthly basis. There is no special redemption method.

There is also no difference whatsoever between a Mastercard and World Mastercard to you as a consumer. They look the same and they work the same. I believe it's just something to do with there being a reward scheme.

yes, 'World' is just the 'premium' Mastercard brand.
i have wondered about having this card, and have had the HHonors card in the past...but am currently focused on cashback rather than points (collect Cashback from Amex and CapOne, and Clubcard and Nectar points as & when).
if you stay at Marriott regularly, it may be very useful to you. provided by Sygma bank..so can be a 'different line of credit' if you hold Barclaycard or Amex or MBNA cards, for example.

    Same comments as callum9999.

I have both the Marriott affiliated credit card and the Hilton one. Over the years both have changed as to who is behind them. At the moment I think it is Creation running the Marriott one and Barclaycard running the Hilton one.

To my knowledge all these cards work under the same principle that your spend accumulates 'hotel' points which get posted to your main hotel loyalty account with the particular brand.

I have redeemed Marriott points a couple of times for leisure trips. Once in Sydney and more recently in Barcelona.

Probably a long haul in terms of the collection of points on a credit card purely before you have enough to redeem. I use both mine to top up points collected via the hotel loyalty scheme on actual business night hotel stays.

good news thomas, and that sounds wise Westin:

i am a member of both loyalty schemes... i think the wise approach is: if you are working the loyalty scheme in it's own right, by actual stays, it makes sense to add card spending points too. otherwise, don't bother.

only other point i'd make is that spending on the HHonors card gave me a gold HHonors card which has given me some nice free upgrades. i was going to have one again for that benefit if CapOne hadn't changed their mind & given me an AspireElite card...i'd rather have the hard cash;)

    Hi thomas20
Would you mind sharing some experience of your application process? Did you get accepted instantly online?

I applied for the same card 3 days ago and was told that the decision will be made by mail. I have yet to receive anything so a little bit anxious at the moment

    Thanks

This pretty much. The only difference is the merchant is charged an extra 1% to process it.

I didn't get an instant decision and to be honest they weren't quick about sending out the card I think it was nearly 2 weeks to receive it, give them a call and ask how it went.
