Challenging ticket which has already been paid

Apologies if this is a daft question, but can you retrospectively challenge a ticket already paid?

By already paid, I mean three years ago. Knowing what I do now can I ask the parking company to prove it was issued correctly i.e. contract with landlord, true assessment of loss etc..

I am almost certain that this is a non-starter "Excuse me Mr Parking Company but can you prove the ticket you issued three years ago was valid..." This feels more like a fishing trip.

Thought I would ask the question anyway.

  • Well you can ask but I estimate your chances between nothing and zero.

Many more important things in life to deal with, methinks. Water well under the bridge now!

But, if you're going to chase it up, keep us abreast of progress. You may be breaking new (or even old) ground. :)
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Michael Green is the poster who offers this service and also the prankster was offering it a while back.

Also keep your eyes on the outcome of ParkingEye v Beavis which will be made public by March 2015 after the Court of Appeal hearing - as it may change things.

You would have to sue them, but first you'd need to come up with some grounds so to do. Did they deceive or mislead you in any way? That might fly. But you'd have to pay to bring a claim, and there's no guarantee that (a) you'd win and (b) that they would pay up even if you did win.

  • Actually what people say here isnt 100% true (it depends on the parking company)

Have done around 10 appeals for people who have paid Parking eye , only for their appeals to be accepted and them to have received a cheque in the post

    That's useful to know, Enigma.

Also a person can try focussing their complaints to the landowner who can tell a PPC to refund.

From Michael Green as I mentioned above, just register your email and he is genuinely collating cases to get refunds for.
