knew i shouldn't have ignored the parking eye fine

i recently parked my wifes car (shes the registered driver) in a service station for 7 hrs... I didn't see any parking signs and went to a funeral with family who met me at the services, as i can enter the service station via a staff entrance :o A few days later i received a letter from parking eye which i ignored, then another, which i ignored... not realising the laws had changed since i last received one for parking on private land (2010) I have now received a claim form country court business centre in Northampton.. costs are now at £175 :eek:i am now wishing i had one of the templates (is it to late for that??) stated in other threads telling them to back off.... can anyone help on what i should do now, as im wondering if going through all this pain of court and responding to this is all worth the hassle? as i stated above its my wifes car, she is the one named on the claim but not present on the day and is obviously not amused with me as i thought they wouldn't go this far.. advice would be gratefully received ..

  • However, a BMPA Lay rep may be available to assist with the court date, if enough notice is available.

  • I too have received a claim form through from Parking Eye due to parking in a Euro garage service station at Markham Vale for 4 hours. Basically I didn't recall seeing any signs in the Entrance way because the road had lorries parked up and down it and when I parked in the car park it was straight in front of the Starbucks so never had the opportunity to read any of the signs.

I am currently going through a mortgage application and don't want anything to jeopardise it, I have not kept any of the letter from parking eye, I feel £100 is excessive but I would pay a reduced amount to sleep easier. What shall I do?

You should do as advised above by wiogs then start your own thread, not hijack somneone else's otherwise things get confusing.

Why haven't you started your own thread, is it that you are now on the case, and that you've now read the Newbies thread near the top of the forum and all this advice there:

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=64350600&postcount=5

Like everyone else you need to read the links there and acknowledge the claim via MCOL and then prepare a defence urgently - you need your own new thread. Use the Forum Jump and click GO to get to page one and click 'new thread' but NOT YET. Read the links first otherwise we'll have to repeat ourselves which isn't helping you. Read the links there in that thread above over the weekend then click on the Forum Jump to get to page one and show us your draft defence based on what the links tell you. Loads to read but it WILL click.
