in Credit cards
I currently have a barclaycard with a balance of £1700 but has a limit of £3500. It still has 2 months purchase interest free on it.
I'm trying to get my credit score improved ( i know scores are made up) however my score hasnt improved at all over the past months and I'm wondering if its due to just making minimum payment. Should i make the payment in full?
Thanks in advance

Always pay more than the minimum payment.
Even if it's only an additional £1.
Forget about your credit score. Fake(ish) number to make money out of people. The best way to improve your attractiveness to lenders is to use the card every month and repay it in full without fail. Paying the minimum tells them your finances may be stretched.0 -
Indeed, minimum payments get reported to CRAs and have negative effect.
And if you can pay the balance in full, it makes no sense to waste money on paying interest as this is no better that spending on card and paying the balance in full each month.
As a side note, all these 'scores' that CRAs try to sell you are very approximate, not to say meaningless.0 -
Indeed, paying the minimum payment only won't improve your score as much as paying more than that.
Consider paying a fixed amount every month (e.g. £100 or £200) if you can afford to do so.
If you only have 2 months left on the interest free period then pay half of the balance each month.
Then just use your card every month, pay in full, and be patient.
Paying interest to improve your credit score is rarely worth it.0 -
Pay over the minimum, reduce your credit limit and start looking for a balance transfer cardChanging the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0
