The advice by fatbelly is good especially the last line

They don't want to...they can't be bothered with your stuff. They want cars or money. Small household items just aren't worth taking.
If you don't have a car then ignore them. The debt will return to the creditor. In this case the court and you can deal with them again.
They really don't want to imprison you for non payment so will accept very small amounts. I was paying £10 per month for a while to clear an old fine. Eventually the rest of it was remitted (written off).:footie:

so does anyone know if bailiffs are in the wrong for discussing the debt with me when it was in my partners name? at no point did they talk to him in any way0
