Ncp parking ticket advice please

Hi there,
Sorry if this has been covered, I llooked but couldn't find anything. I parked at a tube station and paid by text on the NCP dash payment service. I wasn't recieving any confirmations at this point and didn't rrealise I was meant to be until much later but I got a parking ticket. When I looked into my account they had allocated my payment to a car that doesn't exist which was nothing to do with me and had not been added by me.
From the look of my account this had happened a while back but this was obviously the first time the attendant had checked. So they received the money from me on the day in advance of my leaving the car park. I appealed the ticket and explained what happened but they rejected it.
I had this problem on my account nearly every day for about a month after this but all these tickets were cancelled by the ncp but for some reason not this first one even though it was the same circumstance. I even had conversations with the payment company where they admit it was their error but I can't prove that.
I in turn appealed to popla but was rejected. I thought this had gone away but I received a final notice today. Am I right in thinking that because they did actually get the money from me for the parking at the time that they can't do anything? Should I be worried about them coming after me? They are not out of pocket for the parking, they just allocated it to a fictional car.
Thank you for the advice, much appreciated.

  • If you can prove that a payment was made at that specific time slot and was wrongly allocated I would be amazed if they took it court.
PPC's don't like to have to own up to flaws in the technology even though there are many. Sit tight if they won't listen but be ready to defend. Keep all records safely.

NCP don't do court after the famous case where they tried ONE small claim a couple of years ago and ended up paying the defendant's huge costs! Ignore their silly letters - it is a shame that you wasted the POPLA appeal by not coming here earlier, but not the end of the World. Just puts you in the same position everyone was in for years and years, before POPLA existed. Everyone here ignored fake PCNs and the silly letters that follow.

If NCP are daft enough to try this one for a small claim we'll help you defend & win, They'd have no chance.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • Thankyou, I appreciate the help and I'll make sure I print my account payments etc.
  • I've ignored three tickets from NCP, 2 pre-POPLA and one post and also another one had them Cancel the ticket after I appealed to POPLA as they knew they would lose.

They will send you the standard threatening letters and when the chain is at an end, that's it, they are done. Don't worry about it
