electric meter no key

my tennant as left and they can not be contacted... there is no pre payment key to be found and i do not know who the supplyer is,, the meter says its £20 in arrears ,, i would like electric for the week end and to hand to a new tennat any advise please

    Perhaps your own home supplier could do a search for you ?
  • call your regional electricity distribution number, if you google it will give you no. for your area
  • The regional electricity distributor numbers are here:

    http://www.ukpower.co.uk/who-supplies-my-gas-and-electricity

    The one for your area will tell you which supplier the tenant used. You will need to contact the supplier, tell them the tenant has left, and get a new account in your name and a new key. (Some suppliers can do this by giving you a code and you collect a new key from a Paypoint outlet, others will post one out.)

    You will need to do the same when your new tenant moves in.
    A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.

    In addition to above, make sure that any debt is removed from the meter when you insert the new key.

    The new key should do it by itself, but if it doesn't then you need to get the supplier to send an instruction to do so.

    Then when the key is next credited, it should do it.

    Keep on at them if it doesn't. The debt is not yours, you should not be paying it off.
