You cant just bulk buy 5 cases of Cadburys chocolate from a cash and carry and pass them of as your own, or any branded product.

What you need to do is find a specialist supplier who makes own brand products. Problem here is you need to buy literally thousands at a time, you not going to be able to buy a few boxes at a time as the production run will have a set minimum.

People do on eBay. You can get a personalised Galaxy chocolate bar or a personalised Tobelerone bar. In fact there was (when I looked) 86,988 results for 'personalised chocolate' on eBay. So if that's what the OP was thinking of doing, I expect that the more fatal flaw to their cunning plan would be the fact that there are a lot of people who have already thought of that.

This is why I asked the question- I doubted companies would like it but so many people do it.

And no, it's nothing to do with personalised chocolate.

  • It depends on what you are wanting to buy, but most things are available in unbranded versions, occasionally as manufacturers' over-runs, excess stocks etc.

It also depends on whether you can accept sporadic bulk quantities of product which may not be repeated in identical form in future, or require a regular and supply of a consistent item.

If you were doing chocolates, then for example
Many of our products (not all)are available as own label at no additional charge.

Are there others doing what you are planning to do with this product? If they are, then it is probably going to be fairly straight-forward unless the other your competitors have some sort of exclusivity arrangement or even reselling under licence.

If there are no other people doing what you are doing with this particular product, then I would tread carefully and not invest too much money until you have a lot of things sorted out in case the supplier does not like what you are doing and refuses to supply you any more.

anyone who says you cant do this needs to put down their crack pipe.

You can do whatever the heck you like but doing this sounds like a very poor business decision.

You need to buy items wholesale, and put your pakacging on it on a production line. Not buy stuff from retail and then customise it - you will not make any profit on that.
