PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING: Hello Forumites! In order to help keep the Forum a useful, safe and friendly place for our users, discussions around non-MoneySaving matters are not permitted per the Forum rules. While we understand that mentioning house prices may sometimes be relevant to a user's specific MoneySaving situation, we ask that you please avoid veering into broad, general debates about the market, the economy and politics, as these can unfortunately lead to abusive or hateful behaviour. Threads that are found to have derailed into wider discussions may be removed. Users who repeatedly disregard this may have their Forum account banned. I think that is partly the problem - you're clearly very emotionally attached to the house already.
Emotional attachment usually means you think with your heart rather than your head, and we're talking about a business transaction here, I think you need to be cool, calm and rational.
That said, you might not view it as a business transaction - you might see the house buying exercise as something to make you personally happy, whether that incurs additional financial costs or not. It's really up to you.

Yeh, you're right Melissa177 but thankfully my OH is very sensible about these things and is trying to keep my feet firmly on the ground!
We do know what we can afford and what we think it's worth and there's no way he'll let me go over that- however much i might want to!
Am still waiting on the EA, have virtually nothing to do at work so all i'm doing is clock watching and it's driving me crazy!0
