Parking ticket from hospital (my place of work) carpark

Hi all, my trust is currently having some major car parking issues and changes. One of them is a lack of spaces and so staff are often having to park against other cars, outside of marked bays. This is allowed as long as contact details are displayed clearly and the car is moved before 4pm or when the cars that are blocked in phone the person who's blocking them.
I was double parked today as I couldn't find a space at all, and as I was not asked to move my car got caught up in work (it's a very busy environment) and didn't manage to get out until gone my home time, which is normally 5pm but today I left at 10 past five.
The company issuing the tickets is UKPC. I pay a parking permit monthly and am on one of the lowest bands in the NHS. My boss has advised me to contest it but is it even worth writing to them?

Definitely contest it. They are trying to scam you and it's something that we on this forum do not like. Have a good read of the newbies thread at the top of the page. It's a lot to take in but it won't take long to realise that you are being scammed.

First port of call should be to write/email/telephone your hospital estates department. Similar thing happened with me. They were able to get the PCN cancelled.
If you are successful, this route avoids having to deal with those appalling scammers.0 -
Wait for your Notice to Keeper. It will give you extra appeal points in realtion to POFA 2012 if UKPC decide to continue with their false claim and let it run all the way to POPLA.
When your NtK arrives, then fire off your initial appeal.
If enough people fight them, then they'll throw in the towel at your site and find some other soft pickings.0 -
I know exactly which car park you are talking about, I park there regularly.
The car parking facilities are just abysmal and it is absolutely disgusting how staff are treated.
Do not pay these parasites a bean, follow the advice on here and see these scammers off.0 -
Thanks all, I don't have Internet at home yet but when I do (this weekend) I'll read through the thread linked and start my plan of attack!
They are awful, I'm in the admin side and so if I'm late trying to find a space it's just hard luck but if the nurses are then lives are at risk, not to exaggerate too much. We've had a relative of a patient begging a colleague move out of his space because there was absolutely nowhere to park and her family member in one of the wards had half an hour or so leftI know exactly which car park you are talking about, I park there regularly.

horrendous. And we get patronising emails every other week asking us to be patient with the situation! £2023 in 2023 challenge - £17.79 January0
