When you inform TCs of a separation in the case of a joint claim, it ends that joint claim and yes, if you want to claim again you have to apply again with new forms.

I can't remember exactly as I left two years ago, but I'm sure there is a finalised award notice sent out which gives details of a finalised joint claim.

You also still have a Declaration to complete to confirm details of that joint claim so they can confirm they paid you the correct amount for that period.

A new application can be backdated only for three months. You can appeal against this, it may be successful... but with respect, it's not down to HMRC to know whether you need to claim or not - the onus is on you to claim for anything you're entitled to.

I'm also a bit confused as to how you can say that you have not received £8,000 since last June but then say that this is your first year of claiming since your circumstances had gone down - as I read that you wouldn't have been entitled to that £8,000 from June if your circumstances were different for last year.

Check to see if you received a finalised award notice, it should show that your claim had been ended, and then make a new application for a new claim.

    Hi
No I never received a finalised claim or new claim form. Infact i've checked again and was paid until Dec 06 on the organial claim even thou the claim was supposed to be laid to rest in June O6.

I also contacted them in Oct O6 with information regarding new working hours and again no one told me the claim was void.

I just can't believe that no one has told me the claim even closed even though I have rang several times to confirm change of details/ renewal!

I'm sorry if my post is confusing as I think you may gather I do get easily confused!

The figure of £8,000 is what I worked out on the claim website. I think the amount the TC told us was 17,000 but I know that wasnt right!
