Lamona appliances

Hi,

I have seen many threads about Lamona appliances but am confused about whether to go ahead with getting these.

They have been thrown in with my kitchen so I can save on buying appliances right now but if they are as unreliable as I read, then maybe it is still not worth it?

I have also seen read that they are made by Beko. Is this correct?

thank you for your thoughts.

We have them in our new build,

    Sink
    Gas hob
    Electric oven
    Extractor

We have been living there 6 months (so not long for a proper judgement), but they seem OK. My only gripe is that the plug likes to jump out in the sink, like the plug hole is a little too small.

A similar list to the previous poster was installed in a property we refurbished for rental 18 months ago...the tenant has had no problems with them.

Clearly it's worth it if they are being thrown in FOC but make sure you budget for when they inevitably break down!

They are in general, budget, bottom end appliances. Most people seem to have problems getting any kind of service if and when they go wrong.

Nothing wrong with a Howdens kitchen, but I would get your appliances elsewhere. It is not like it is difficult to find somewhere else to source them.

But the OP's being offered them, what appears to be FOC..... therefore, fill your boots and just budget the replacements into savings!

Yeah, they would have to be seriously bad (which they aren't) to be not worth it for free. :D

The time you have them, will all be time to save for something better.

The key phrase there is "what appears to be FOC" You will be paying for that with less discount off the units, which is where the margin is.

There is no way that you will be getting the proper discount off the units and free appliances.

Would suggest OP that you try another branch of Howdens and get a units only quote.....just to see how real that saving actually is!

    QUOTE]
CDDC, believe it or not thats where your wrong, Howdens HAVE to make circa 42% margain in a month if they sold a 1000 base unit at 75% off they would actually only make about 25%. They make their margain on insiting on putting on clad on end panels everywhere (as shown by a poster last week). 75% off a end panel probably still makes 70-80% margain.
I do agree nothing is for free and i would guess Howdens have produced a quote that does not show the % discount for the OP. Which means they have marked down the appliances to zero then only giving 40% discount on units.
