Energy Price Cap announcement: Watch Martin Lewis explain what it means for your electricity and gas bills this winter
I'm new to posting on the site, but get the mailout every week and used Martin's reclaiming guide to go after RBS who over six years have taken over £3500 in charges from my account.

The process initially started last September but didn't really commence until May 22nd this year when I asked for my charges back. A total of ten letters and seemingly nothing, still had debt collection agencies on my back.

I prepared my pack to go to the Financial Ombudsman and was ready to send this week. I decided to go with the FO following Martin's advice about the FO 100% success rate. However, I received a letter from RBS last night, sated 18th July so just within the two-month deadline I had given of the 19th July offering the full amount I claimed for - £3500.34!!!

I didn't claim for interest - I was going to in my claim to the FO but I wanted it dealt with as swiftly as possible. The letter of acceptance is going in the post!!

Keep going and if you can seek advice from the Citizens advice bureau, consumer credit counselling line and Trading Standards should you recieve threatening letters- I add and brought this up continously from RBS to show that I wasn't on my own but had been consulting other organisations as to what I was legally entitled too. I still have charges disputes to settle - Capitol One, Egg but should they prove unwilling to refund, I'll be using the Financial Ombudsman. It takes longer but I still have the option of court afterwards should they fail to reach a settlement!

Happy to answer any queries - thanks for all the help Martin, you're a star!!
Slowly but surely getting rid of my debts ;)
