Big London Energy Switch

I've just had an email through from these people. I filled in my details after receiving a round robin email from my local council. These guys are saying they've found a deal that would save me about £250 per year (with Eon collective switch). This seems a lot of money to save, but I'm a bit sceptical especially as I've just checked MSE's cheap energy club and the best deal they have would save me about £100 per year. Has anyone switched with the Big London Energy Switch? or can anyone tell me anything about them please?

The £250 message will probably have a massive caveat attached to it.

    Taken from their own website:

There is no guarantee that the switch will save you money. Consumers who have recently switched energy providers may be on the best-value tariff already.

    Hi iabw12

This sounds like one of the collective switching schemes we've been involved with recently.

If this is the case, the tariff would've been offered through an independent web broker. This broker will run the scheme, possibly in conjunction with other organisations like local councils.

These tariffs are only available to customers that've registered with the scheme through the broker. The schemes are also fairly heavily regulated.

Once registered, the broker will contact customers directly. We won't have any contact with customers during the sales process as this would be against current industry regulations.

Before switching, it's always best to pop your usage in kWh into the independent comparison sites. This'll give you more options with all the suppliers. Our collective switching schemes won't be on these sites so you'll need to check the results manually to make sure there's a saving.

Hope this is of interest iabw12.
