sony vaio - cd stuck

I have a fairly old sony vaio. Hadn't used it for awhile. Put in a cd rom last week and now the cd player wont open. Have tried running the cd, but it isn't recognised, have tried paper clip into the hole on the player - still wont open. The Dips want to use it for games, but we are stuck now. Any advice?

Hi there,
I have had the drive not recognised on my viao too. It seems that the files you need are easily corrupted... My OH was in charge of fixing it with the instructions that I received from the sony e-support dept. If you log in to the club viao website and click on the help liks it should take you to the right place. You need to open a report with them and then they email back instructions on what to do.
Sorry I can't be more helpful... maybe there will be someone on here who has had the same problem...
