Evening all.
Today I have actually printed out CC statements and instantly noticed a payment for £5.50 which had been going out every month for the last 6 months! Apparently it's insurance for an iPad I bought - they said about giving us a month free but then apparently just started taking the money! Anyway that's now cancelled! So a saving of £5.50 a month for actually spending 2 mins looking at my statement!
Tomorrow evening I'm going to look through them properly and see where I've been spending (read "wasting") money - forgot my highlighter tonight to mark my work expenses and so see what's mine.
Also going to print bank statements and do the same - again a job for tomorrow.
I earnt a little bit more on onepoll so up to £5.50. Also only need (only she says!) 150 more SBs for my first £5.
Ordered some purfume and make up samples today after being suggested it on the forum somewhere (I love these little tips!)
Not had heating on since the LBM!
Checked bank accounts this morning too - it's a good habit to have so I know exactly where I stand - a tip from this forum so thanks guys!Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
Current debt - £5,435.00

Hello all,
Sorry to hear your troubles with insurance and utilities Bob
Big well done to Foxgloves on winning the competition, and to think you almost didn't enter
Sounds like a lot of you are having great weather - surprisingly (!) in the North West it hasn't been as good. Very windy this morning and lots and lots of rain this afternoon. But, that's never got in the way of having a good day before, especially since I'm off work this week.
Today's list:
All meals from stores - lunch was leftover chicken sandwiches from the roast on Sunday. So got two main meals and a lunch out of it.
Phoned utility company to change tariff, they have adjusted my DD to £33 less than I am currently paying (this is a aging of almost £400 per year!) and this is slightly higher than it could have been, but I wanted a small buffer to remain. This has given me lots of well needed motivation to resist the heating switch. I have been feeling a bit down about my constantly cold home, but it's obviously made an impact.
Phoned mobile company to question some charges on my last bill - only pennies, but I couldn't understand why they were there - now I know, I can avoid in the future. I also mentioned that I was experiencing very poor reception, so they're going to send a new sim to see if this rectifies it. Very impressed with their customer service so far (Tesco Mobile), but as an ex-TMobile customer, the bar was not set very high.
Received an email from the company I purchased my fridge and freezer from to claim £20 cash back - yes please, form sent back immediately
Visited s-i-l and her baby (with DD) and we then walked into town. It was pouring with rain by this time, but we had fun running in and out of the shops trying to dodge it. Went to buy some things to go into a shoebox appeal which DD does for school. Not very MSE, but compared to some, we have plenty and I think it is good for DD to be aware that there are children less fortunate out there. Also had to buy ink for the printer - definitely not MSE. The prices are extortionate!
Was going to post an item sold on eBay until I realised I had put the incorrect size on the description, so contacted the buyer and arranged refund - doh!
One wash on at 30 degrees
Some change put into my sealed pot (only about 7p, but it all helps)
Checked PCL and BB
Still need to update spending diary and grocery spend signature
Need to check bank
One from yesterday (I didn't post) - we found the wallpaper we wanted for the hall, stairs and landing at Home base which was £15 per roll, quick look online and bought at £10 per roll with free delivery. Also, the items I sold over the last week on eBay paid for it. Feeling very happy with this.
Overall, very pleased with today. It really is about doing lots of little things, which can end up making quite an impact.
See you all tomorrow.SPC # 348 2014-£169.07/2015 - £156.89
