Ebid anyone ?

Anyone used Ebid? I've just joined to test the water as an alternative to Ebay. I also plan to open my own website - I sell plus sized clothing.

Any other sites anyone can recommend for second hand plus sized clothing ?

I have been on ebid now for about 10 or 11 years, I took out a reduced lifetime membership. You might as well throw your money away- there are no buyers there at all.

Just take a look at completed listings in the categories you sell in and see how many successful sales there are.

I think this is why I am so vocal about Ebid, all I see is a wasted opportunity. I have never seen so many unhappy sellers on eBay, but what are Ebid doing ...nothing. There is a bit of spam from sellers on the community boards suggesting people go to Ebid but eBay must consider so minor a threat that they don't even hurry to remove the posts.

Go over to the ebid forums and what do you see, the regulars suggesting that Ebid works well alongside eBay, not instead of eBay as even they admit there is very little traffic.

Add a few pence onto the Ebid fees, take out a little advertising and get the buyers there- once they have buyers the sellers will follow.

I know a few people who have bought and sold clothing items on depop.com recently.

When stock was low last year and had some free time brought a load of cheap items from Ebid and then sold for a profit on Ebay.

It just goes to show that you complain and moan all you want about Ebay and the way it treats it sellers but it does provide access to an amount of customers that no-one else even comes close to providing.

I found Ebid almost impossible to use. Listings kept getting stuck and if I changed screen to unstick the whole draft was lost ! The categories are just in one big list you have to scroll down to pick the right one, on the search engine you can't seem to filter out the buy it nows so it's full of cheap dross - not pure auction items and I agree the choice is crap. I cancelled my subscription - waste of money :-(

I can't believe after all this time there isn't a genuine contender for Ebay

I'd have thought Facebook would be quite good for selling on. Think of a quirky name and set up a page or post on some others with products for sale.

Joined Ebid years ago when it was completely free, it was useless then and still is. No one uses it.

I think ebid have the right strategy for their site. Sit back and wait for the disgruntled ebay sellers to pay for lifetime memberships. No need to do any work, or change the site in anyway. There's virtually no chance of pulling buyers away from ebay and amazon, no matter how much they sink into advertising.
  • Oh. I just signed up for the reduced lifetime membership yesterday. It seems I may have made a big mistake...
