Defects for INR

Just looked at my dashboard and yes, the 2 INR cases I insisted the buyers open cases for have counted as defects.
Seems very wrong.
I can take a few defects, currently my dashboard is saying 0.46% of my transactions had defects, that's 3 out of 646. 2 were INR and 1 was an item OOS.
But I can't go above 2% else I lose my TRS .

How is this fair as I certainly can't be responsible for items lost in post and I always refund in full! I just like buyers to open a case because I have been stung in the past by serial scammers and I like them to leave a trail!

Even worse, I have two defects from one buyer who raised two INR cases (both items sent together) and the next day he closed both and apologised as they had arrived !

Ebay don't want to know. The fact he raised cases means he had a bad buying experience !

The only way around it is to send by tracked method, however, some items really aren't worth it.

This was why sellers were so unhappy when the changes were announced last March. Up until then ebay had encouraged us to open defects, yet by doing so those cases were counted as defects and used against us.

Since the March announcement we have had to decide whether our dashboards can take these defects or not before we insist on cases being opened.

I don't get many cases, but decide on a case by case basis whether to insist a claim is open, or whether I just refund regardless.

I just refund and block the seller. I send most items by My Hermes tracked so it is only the cheap items that aren't un-tracked. Thankfully I rarely get any INR and might be blocking buyers who genuinely have not received their item, however if they open a case will lose the money anyway. It is crazy that its better to be taken advantage of by a dodgy buyer than get a defect for following correct Ebay procedure.

I also block buyers when they open an INR- probably daft and an over reaction- but I do it anyway
