I would tax wealthy companies more and I would tax individuals progressively.

It does seem that these wealthy companies and banks that we are talking about are accumulating vast reserves of money, mainly through financial speculation. This is what I object to. The money should be used to improve everybody's standard of living.

I don't think that any of this is too 'out there'.

Francois Hollande thought this was a splendid idea, too. His tax revenue plummeted.

The old Soviet Union thought that was a splendid idea, too, and Kim-Yong-un still does. Have you ever set foot in a country where profits aren't allowed?

One last try from me, though I do not have much hope that you will see where you are going wrong: why would companies work to make profits if they weren't allowed to keep them?

It is a splendid idea. Pity these companies are all so slippery. I suppose that's OK by you though?

You have not picked up that I am not talking about average profits, I am talking about obscene profits. I realise the super rich and their wannabe followers no longer know the difference... or care.

Why the references to extremely unpleasant dictatorial regimes when I'm suggesting the lessening of the financial inequalities that have flourished in our society in the last 30/40 years? I find them a little childish. I'm talking about a fairer distribution of the world's resources and a little social justice. I know this is anathema to many these days.

To be fair to Lloyds, they agreed to keep a certain number of branches as a condition of taking over HBOS and this undertaking is expiring.

P.S. Don't try to reason with colsten ;)

  • As another note, if you're switching to Co-Op be prepared for one of the worst online banking systems I've ever seen.
Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.

Where do you draw the line though? Your signature refers to your Tesco vouchers, i.e. from a company that made over £3bn profit last year, shouldn't you be shopping somewhere else?!
