This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning all
Dogs don't understand the phrase 'Half Term', nor do they understand 'The clocks have gone back', so my furry lodger is up breakfasted & walked, all before 6! He is now zzzing away in his bed.
The fish have been fed & the food placed up out of the dog's reach, hubby has a cuppa & I'm pottering around, pretending I'm awake. I have a load of washing ready to go on the line & the DW is chugging away. I'm having my oven cleaned at 9 oclock & also a visitor around the same time.
Hubby was hoping to return to work today but he still can't take any weight on his foot, though his toes are healing nicely now. He is signed of until tomorrow, so I'm not sure why he felt he had to go in today. DGD is visiting today from about lunchtime & will probably stay over night, she will want to do some gardening so hubby might try to get up again then.
I need to clear a space in the kitchen for the oven man, move my car so he can get on my drive & get some cash out to pay him with so I better get a move on.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Good morning Hester and everyone who follows :hello:
Today is the day the carpet cleaning man is coming so I will be getting the girls up in a min to help clear the living room and the landing. It shouldn't take too long with all of us helping. Hubby has gone off to work quite happy this morning.
I'm going to make a sausage and bean casserole for tea with mash and I also really fancy some sort of pudding with custard so I will be raiding my baking cupboard to see what I can knock up.
My grandchildren have been away with their dad since Friday and I am really missing them but I think they are back tomorrow
. I am baby sitting them on Thursday for the morning so their mum can go to work. It's working out really well after all my previous concerns as the kids dad has stepped up and looks after them more now so I don't have to do the school run.
I must remember to put the recycling out this week, I didn't bother last week because it was so windy here but now we are awash with plastic bottles and tins.
Well that's all my waffle for now, hope everyone manages to have a nice day and hugs for everyone who wants them. Take care xx0 -
Morning Hester and all to follow
Cold but bright here this morning, off to work for me and I will collect dd on the way.
Lamb curry for dinner which I shall get in the sc in a while, I am going to try and use the sc at least twice a week when I am at work, saves so much time when you get in, anyone got any tried and tested recipes ?
Need to put a wash on tonight will have to put it on airer with dehumidifier going, no heating on yet but think it will be soon, its just not been cold enough yet !
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning everyone
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.
Now light, and sun shining, but don’t know about the temperature as I haven’t ventured outside.
DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS2 gone to work. DS2 now enjoying his first cuppa of the day.
Dinner last night was an easy fish, chips and beans for the menfolk, I had fish, jacket potato and green beans. Tonight will be chicken and salad wraps with either rice or stuffed jacket potatoes with beans and HM coleslaw.
I got my online food order started so will just add anything that I need before delivery on Thursday. We got a line of washing dry outside yesterday and there’s another load in the WM ready to go out shortly.
Today I’m going to sort all the clean washing as there’s a bit of a mountain on the dining room table.
Take care x
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Still raining! It was very windy in the night, had to close the bedroom window as it was too noisy, then couldn't sleep as the window was closed!
Just taken DD to the station as she would be soaked before she got there. Off to work myself in a mo.
Had veggie fajitas for tea yesterday which were very tasty and didn't have any chocolate, biscuits in the house and I didn't miss them! Baked potato for tonight. DD has lo fajitas for lunch and I have hm soup.
Not a lot going on, hope you are all enjoying better weather than us. Take care. XX
PS, couldn't get on the forums last night, was there something going on and I missed it?0 -
Morning :hello:
Thanks for ganging up on me
I spent most of the weekend dozing on the sofa then had a proper night's sleep on sunday night. Still woke a bit early yesterday but felt much better.
My appetite is back but I'm eating slowly because I still have slight butterflies in my tummy. If I'd have known it was going to last this long, I'd have gone to the docs straight away. Any sign of it coming back and I'll head straight there.
I took it easy after work yesterday, I was wary of throwing myself back into things too quickly. No work today so I'm going to get a few jobs done around the house and I have some paperwork to sort out. Then I'll spend an hour crocheting – I haven't picked up my hook for weeks

I have read but mostly forgotten everything so hope you're all OK. I'm behind on everything and everyone, I really need to catch up with things and people. And life

Good morning all,
Thank you Hester for starting today's thread and I hope L&Ms feet are a little more comfy. I don't know how he managed to wear shoes for the wedding, poor man. I read your latest blog post to Himself last night about comments overheard, I have never seen him laugh so much, and he isn't well:)
Weather is lovely here this morning, have to pop out later for a birthday present for a dear friend, and I have a cake to make because I have another friend and her granddaughter coming on Thursday.
I have some washing to do and then decide what we will eat this evening. Finished off the roast beef last night, so must have a look in the freezer.
Hugs to all poorlies and comfort to all pets. Although Flora the cat isn't as upset as a dog would be with the fireworks, she certainly doesn't like them. Thankfully she is a house cat now so she is safe. Our old golden retriever hated fireworks, They sound such large fireworks so I imagine they must be quite expensive as well and they just seem to go on forever.
Have a good day all

TRU I am pleased you are feeling a little better, hopefully it was just one of those bugs that hang around for some time.
Take things steady

Morning, (((((((((((((((((((Hugs))))))))))))))))))) if you need one.
Another bright sunny morning, but I understand from the radio that there are lots of problems on the raods and with trains in various places this morning.
We have the dreaded inspection this morning, not that I dread it really, they would have a job to find anything wrong in this house. I just need to get the Dyson down and do the sitting room carpet.
I have lamb bones and broth mix, going to make scotch broth in the pressure cooker for lunch, it should last us a couple of days.
No laundry to go out, I expect OH will find something to do in the garden this morning.0 -
Morning all,
Bright again outside. Washing on line and some more bits on a short wash, mainly DS2's bike gloves as they do stink terribly!
Off to Chatham in a while as I want to have a nosey in Primark, probably fatal I know
I'm going to get some veg to make some more Piccalilli as DH was asking for more this morning. I need to get some bits from the 99p Store as well.
Going to ring DS1 today as it's his day off. That'll bring a smile to my face
Tru - So glad you are feeling a lot better.
Have a brilliant day all x0
