itunes error code, anyone any idea what to do?

I've been getting an error code on my iTunes account. The code is 8268 and explains itself as an "unknown error" with no other explanation other than the tune it is to do with. For some reason I have two of the same error code on the one tune.
I've tried Googling for answers and looking on the Apple community. The only suggestion (posted from years ago) I can see is to call Apple which would cost me £25!
I have tried deleting the song (which I did and now I can't see it other than in my purchase list which I cannot delete it from) I've tried restoring iTunes, wiping and resorting my ipod and restarting it as a new ipod which took the best part of 3 hours to do (old and slow ipod-don't want to do this again!) Nothing seems to help.
Has anyone else had this error code and been able to resolve it without paying Apple £25?
